Mumbai, 16 February (IANS). The central government is committed to providing good health services to the workers. In this direction, Union Labor and Employment Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandavia has instructed the officials to speed up the construction and renewal of hospitals and make health services available smoothly.
Dr. Mandavia visited ESIC Hospital in Andheri, Mumbai and Directorate General, Factory Advise and Labor Institute (DGFASLI). He reviewed various facilities at ESIC Hospital, such as registration counter, online registration under Dhanvantari module, dental unit and internal medical department. He also met patients and hospital staff and also received his opinion.
During the visit of DGFASLI, he was informed about the rules and training programs related to Industrial Safety and Health (OSH). He inspected training rooms, conference halls and digital resource centers.
The minister especially showed interest in laboratories where industrial hygiene and personal safety equipment (PPE) is examined. He said that it is necessary to further strengthen the rules of industrial safety and increase technical knowledge in this field.
To increase the transparency and speed of the works, he instructed the authorities to digitize the process of inspection, better maintenance of laboratories and there should be transparency in regulatory activities.
Meanwhile, according to the salary data of Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), 16.07 lakh new employees in November 2024 joined the scheme, out of which 47% are under 25 years of age. This indicates that new employment opportunities are increasing in the country.
In November 2024, 20,212 new establishments have been brought under the purview of the ESI scheme. This will ensure social security to more workers. This information has been given in a statement issued by the Ministry of Labor and Employment.
In addition, annual analysis shows that registration has increased by 0.97 percent as compared to November 2023.
