New Delhi, October 4 (IANS). A new study has revealed how back pain can be prevented from increasing. The study suggests reducing sitting time and exercising every day to prevent back pain from worsening.
Back pain is very common. Some of the main causes of back pain include muscle strain, disc damage, certain health problems like scoliosis and osteoporosis.
People concerned about back health should “minimize sitting at work or during leisure time,” said Joa Norha, a doctoral researcher and physiotherapist at the University of Turku, Finland.
To understand the relationship between activity and back pain and the mechanisms underlying back pain, researchers included 64 adults with overweight or obesity and metabolic syndrome. Over the course of the six-month study, participants reduced sitting time by an average of 40 minutes per day.
People suffering from back pain often have excessive fat accumulation in the back muscles. They are also likely to have decreased glucose metabolism or insulin sensitivity, making them more likely to have pain.
However, the study found no association between “back muscle adiposity or glucose metabolism”.
Additionally, researchers said overweight or obesity and metabolic syndrome not only increase the risk of back pain, but also increase the risk of heart disease.
“Just standing still may not be helpful. Instead, walking or more vigorous exercise may be more beneficial,” said physiotherapist Joa Norha.
The researchers say switching between currencies is more important than finding the right currency.
According to a recent analysis published in the journal Lancet Rheumatology, more than 80 crore people will suffer from low back pain by 2050, an increase of 36 percent compared to 2020.
Studies have shown that the cases of back pain have increased rapidly since 2017 and this number has increased to more than half a billion. There were approximately 61.9 crore cases of back pain in the year 2020.
