Kolkata, January 16 (IANS). The West Bengal Medical Council has issued a show cause notice to Asfaqullah Naiya, one of the prominent faces of the junior doctors’ movement against the rape and murder of a female doctor of the Government RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in 2024.
A copy of the show cause notice issued to Asfaqullah Naiya is available with IANS. The notice has been issued against Naiya on the basis of a complaint that he was practicing as an ENT specialist at a private medical service provider in the state, even though he did not have the required qualifications for the same.
In the show cause notice, state medical council registrar Manas Chakraborty said that since Naiya’s current qualification is the basic degree of MBBS and he is pursuing post graduation with specialization in ENT specialist, he cannot claim himself to be an ENT surgeon. .
“As per point 7.20 of Chapter 7 of the Indian Medical Council Regulations, 2002, no doctor can claim to be a specialist unless he has a special qualification in that branch,” the show cause notice said. yes.”
The show cause notice directed Naiya to meet Chakraborty within seven days of receiving the letter with all the documents on the basis of which he was practicing “unauthorised” ENT qualification.
The notice also warned them that disciplinary action would be initiated against them in case they fail to come with the required documents as directed by the State Medical Council Registrar.
Let us tell you that after the rape of a female doctor of Government RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, the body of the female doctor was recovered from the seminar hall of RG. The verdict in the rape and murder case is to be pronounced in a special court in Kolkata on January 18.
