Sydney, 22 April (IANS). Researchers have found that more fatty and sweet food affects the brain.
Scientists at the University of Sydney tried to find out in a study of what is the effect of more fat (fat) and sugar food (especially refined sugar and saturated fat). This is called spicy navigation which has the ability to remember the way from one place to another. Which tells how healthy your brain is part of the name hippocampus. This research is published in the International Journal of Obesity.
The study was led by Dr. Dominic Tran. He said that some brain capabilities can be weakened by the habit of eating fatty and sweet food, especially the part that is associated with direction and memory.
The good thing is that this effect is not permanent. According to Dr. Tran, if we improve our food, then our brain starts doing good work again. Such as recognizing the way a new place or remembering a new way.
The study included 55 university students between the ages of 18 to 38 years. He was asked how much fat and sugar food they eat. Then his weight, the ability to remember and the mental direction-knowledge were tested.
In this test, he was placed in a labyrinth of virtual reality, where he had to find a treasure box. In the experiment, people had to find this treasure box six times. There were some special things around the labyrinth, with the help of which people could remember their way. Every time used, the place of starting and the treasure box was the same.
If the participants had found the treasure within 4 minutes, the next round would have started. If they could not find the treasure in so long, they were immediately rushed to the site of treasury and were given 10 seconds to see the place well before the next round.
The students who had eaten less fat and low sugar food identified the place of treasure more correctly. Dr. Tran said that it was seen that the performance of more sugar and fat students was weak. This makes it further confirmed that if we improve our food, we can keep our mind sharp and healthy.
Scientists already know that eating more fat and sugar can become the cause of obesity, heart disease and some cancer. Now it is also clear that this habit also damages the brain and that too at a young age.
Dr. Tran said, “This research shows that good food is not only necessary for the body but also for the health of the brain. Especially in puberty, when our brain works best.”
