Tonk, October 3 (IANS). Scrub typhus continues to wreak havoc in Tonk district of Rajasthan. Samples of patients are being sent to Jaipur and Tonk for testing. In the recently sent samples, scrub typhus has been found positive in 10 patients. Along with cleaning the village, villagers are being given information about prevention of scrub typhus. Health check-up of sick people is being done. Awareness is being created about prevention from mosquito and animal borne diseases.
Tonk Collector Dr. Soumya Jha told that the entire medical team is in the city for three days. The state team also came to the city for inspection. Investigation revealed that there were 23 deaths in the district in August and September. Of these, 16 deaths occurred due to accidents and natural deaths. About eight deaths had the symptom of fever. But dengue was negative in all. Still we have deployed a medical team there. Samples of many people are being tested by going door to door. Some diseases have been detected. Scrub typhus has been found positive in some people. Leptospirosis has been found positive in some people.
The Collector said that to stop this, we are getting fogging done in the entire area. These diseases are caused by the bites of insects living on animals. By deploying a veterinary officer there on Thursday, we are treating the diseases of the animals, so that this disease does not spread among the people.
He said that no one needs to be afraid. BCMHO will be stationed there for four to five days. Antiseptic medicine is being sprayed in waterlogged areas. Anyone who feels that he is falling ill in the camp, goes and gets himself tested. If we feel that a patient is serious, we refer him immediately.
In view of the spread of diseases, e-rickshaws have been introduced in Panchayat Samiti under the Swachh Bharat Mission. Now there will be door-to-door garbage collection in towns and villages. Apart from garbage collection from houses, cleanliness will also be seen on the streets, roads and intersections of the village. The Sarpanch has sent a letter to the Malpura Development Officer to provide three e-rickshaws.
