Mumbai, 7 July (IANS). The ancient Indian method yoga has a solution to every physical and mental problem, which is also helpful in improving health. Among them, Setu Bandha Sarvangasana, also known as ‘Bridge Pose’, is a yogasan that is effective in removing many problems including back pain, thyroid.
This asana strengthens the spine, hamstrings, glutes and shoulders, as well as the ability to breathe by opening the chest and lungs.
The Ministry of AYUSH, the Government of India, counted the benefits from the practice of ‘Setu Bandha Sarvangasana’. This helps in reducing back pain and lower back tightness. It stimulates the thyroid gland, which improves hormonal balance. This asana is also helpful in reducing stress, anxiety and depression. In addition, it improves the digestive system and increases blood circulation. Women are also effective in reducing problems related to periods.
Experts explain what is the right method of doing this asana. For this, first of all lie down on the ground. Keep your hands on both sides of the body, the palms are downwards. Now bend both legs with knees and bring the legs near the hips, so that the feet remain flat on the ground. Slowly, lift the hips upwards, so that the body’s posture takes a bridge-like shape. During this time, the shoulder and head should remain on the ground.
During practice, this situation should stop for 10-15 seconds and keep breathing in a normal way. Then slowly exhale, bring the hips back to the ground. This process should be repeated 3 to 5 times.
Sarvangasana can improve physical and mental health by regular practice. However, experts also recommend taking some precautions during the practice of this asana. If there is injury to the neck, back or shoulders, it should not be done. Pregnant women should also avoid doing this asana. Always do it on an empty stomach and avoid applying too much. If you have any health problem, first consult a doctor or yoga specialist.
