New Delhi, 19 April (IANS). Cancer is the most important about the loss of health due to smoking. But smoking causes many other disadvantages other than the risk of cancer. Recently, many studies have emerged in this regard, claiming that men who smoke have less ability to become a father. In addition, it also has a negative effect on their sperm. This risk is for all youngsters who have long been addicted to smoking.
IANS had a special conversation with Dr. Kuldeep Kumar Grover of CK Birla Hospital on this subject. He clearly stated that smoking can affect the quality of men’s sperm, which directly affects their fertility. Cigarettes have the most impact on the dynamics of sperm and their number. Nicotine and carbon monoxide present in cigarettes are responsible for this. If cigarette continues to smoke for a long time, the situation may be more severe.
Dr. Paresh Jain, an expert at Fortis Hospital, has also warned that smoking cigarettes has a serious negative effect on men’s breeding health. This can not only be a cause of erectile dysfunction (ED) in men, but also reduces sperm count and quality. Nicotine and harmful chemicals present in cigarettes compress blood vessels, which reduces blood flow to the penis. This can become the main cause of ED. Smoking also damages the internal layer of blood vessels and reduces testosterone hormone levels, affecting libido and ED quality.
In addition, cigarette intake can damage sperm DNA. It can also affect fetal development and increase the risk of miscarriage. Toxins of cigarettes increase oxidative stress, which destroys sperm cells.
Dr. Jain has appealed to men to quit smoking. “Smoking not only damages your overall health, but it also severely affects your fertility. Men can improve their fertility by adopting a healthy lifestyle and distance from smoking,” he said.
