New Delhi, March 28 (IANS). The American Association for Cancer Research celebrates the ‘Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month’ every year every year. Under this, people are made aware of colorectal cancer. They are told what its initial symptoms can be and what steps should be taken immediately when its symptoms are seen.

Both experts say that smoking and irregular lifestyle are becoming a major cause of colorectal cancer. Dr. Goyal said that cigarette smoke contains more than 70 toxic substances that damage DNA and lead cells to cancer. Smoking increases swelling and stress in the body, increasing the risk of tumor to 18–30 percent. The more and the longer smoke for a long time, the more the danger increases. Even after quitting smoking, this risk persists for many years.
Dr. Javed said that bad food and drink also invites the disease. Low fiber, more red meat, processed food and alcohol consumption increases its risk manifold. This disease is also increasing among the youth, behind which there are causes like obesity, stress and low exercise.
Talking about its symptoms, he said that stomach pain, blood in stool, change in stool habits, weakness, fatigue and sudden weight phenomenon can be its early signs. If these symptoms remain for more than two weeks, see a doctor immediately.
Dr. Goyal advised that quitting smoking and regular colonoscopy is the most important step to avoid this disease. Balanced diet and exercise also reduce danger.
According to Dr. Javed, screening is necessary after the age of 50, as the risk increases at this age. If you are identified on time, treatment with surgery, chemotherapy and robotic techniques is easy and effective.
Experts say that abdominal malfunction, such as constipation or frequent inflammation can also damage the intestines. It can be kept right with the habit of proper food and water drinking.
