Lucknow, 23 June (IANS). Like every time in Uttar Pradesh, this time there is a preparation to make a record of plantation. The campaign will start from July 1 under the Van Mahotsav. The target is 35 crore plantation. In the year 2024, there was only a goal, but there was more plantation against the target. This year too, in view of the number of plants prepared in the nursery and the preparations of the Yogi government, it is expected that like every year, a new record will be made in the campaign of 2025.
The purpose of planting saplings in the same season every year is to increase Haryani in the state, make the environment clean and beautiful, reduce the challenges of climate change and ensure maximum biodiversity by planting all types of plants (fruitful, shady, medicinal and timber). Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath wants to make it a mass movement in view of this multi -faceted importance of plantation in environmental protection. In this regard, he has said many times, “Environmental protection is not only the government, but the collective responsibility of the society. Our goal of taking the green cover of the state up to 20 percent by 2030 will be successful only when the plantation takes the form of mass movement.”
It is noteworthy that about 55 lakh saplings of drumstick were planted during the plantation campaign of 2024. This number will remain more or less the same for the year 2025. The Chief Minister has already directed to distribute drumstick plants in the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and Anganwadi centers. Not only this, every family in backward aspirational districts will also be motivated to plant some drunken plants on the standards of development.
In view of the medicinal and nutritional features of drumstick, the Health Department of Varanasi has taken exemplary initiative. In this sequence, two plants of drumstick will be planted on every community, primary and health sub centers. It has also started from last days. Two years ago, the Center had directed the states to include a drumstick with foster, other shelters and beans, rich in nutrients that grow at the local season under the PM Nutrition Scheme.
According to experts, drumstick is not just a plant but itself has a powerhouse of nutrition. Its leaves and beans have the properties of prevention of more than 300 diseases. These include 92 types of vitamins, 46 types of anti -oxidants, 36 types of pain relievers and 18 types of amino acids. Apart from this, the drumstick gets seven times the vitamin C-orange, four times from the vitamin A-carrot, four times milk, potassium- three times from banana, three times from protein-yogurt.
It is cultivated in the states of South India, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. Also, its beans and leaves are also used in many ways. Tamil Nadu Agricultural University has developed two species named PKM-1 and PKM-2. PKM-1 is also compatible with the agricultural climate zone here. It can be in all kinds of land. It just needs a lot of light of the sun. The features of drumstick do not end here. The use of its green or dry leaves in the form of fodder reports more than one and a half times in animal milk and more than one third in weight. Not only this, by mixing the juice of its leaves in a water solution, sprinkling on the crop leads to more increase in the yield.
