Food has been considered a basic element not only for physical but also mental health. It has been told in the Charaka Samhita that food is life and a perfect diet only brings satisfaction, nutrition, force and intelligence. It not only treats diseases, but also pays deep attention to lifestyle, diet, routine and mental behavior. In this, some things and habits are considered to be harmful to the body, so they have been called “prohibition”.
In Charaka Samhita, a combination of some foods is mentioned which are of opposite properties and which should not be consumed simultaneously. For example, milk and fish should not be consumed simultaneously, as the milk is cold and the fish is hot. At the same time, food should be eaten slowly and chewing; Eating quickly does not cause digestion properly. Food should not be eaten by heating again and again. This reduces the nutrients of food and can also be harmful to health.
According to the Sushruta Samhita, things like eating excessive food, sleeping during the day, waking up late at night are considered taboo. This increases phlegm, causing obesity and allergies. At the same time, waking up at night causes problems like fat, mental stress, insomnia and tiredness. One should not sleep immediately after eating, it weakens digestive power.
According to Ayurveda, experiencing negative feelings like anger, anxiety, jealousy affects the body and mind. It helps in increasing the gout-spasm by spreading like poison in the body. The Sushruta Samhita states that excessive work, lack of sleep and mental stress should be avoided, as they can increase mental and emotional problems.
There are 13 types of natural velocity such as stool, urine, sneezing, yawning, tears, which have been prohibited to stop. Stopping them can cause serious diseases in the body such as headache, heart disease, skin diseases etc.
