Aortic aneurysm is a dangerous condition of the human heart. In this, the largest artery of our body, the aorta, increases to 1.5 times its normal size.

Aortic aneurysm is treated through surgery. This is done by open surgery or minimally invasive endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR).

Speaking to IANS on this subject, Dr Chaitanya said, “Only a few lucky individuals are able to detect this disease during a CT scan or ultrasound examination. Some studies estimate that about 12 per cent of people above the age of 65 years have the disease.” Adults suffer from aortic aneurysm, while a lower percentage are seen in younger individuals, with many cases of sudden death being mistaken for a massive heart attack or aging, with the actual cause never known.
