Gandhinagar, 21 June (IANS). On June 21, the 11th International Yoga Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm worldwide. Yoga programs were organized in various cities on this occasion in Gujarat too, in which Yoga of Surat was the center of attraction in Taran Tal. From Surat to Kutch, Jamnagar, Rajkot and Vadodara, people adopted yoga and gave the message of healthy life.
Thousands of people participated in the yoga program held at Sarathana Dome in Surat. During this time the unique ‘Aqua Yoga’ was seen, in which people demonstrated yoga asanas like Padmasana, Topasana, Shavasan, Paschimottanasana and Baksan in the swimming pool.
Aqua Yoga Instructor Ritesh Daruwala said, people know it by the name of Water Yoga. This yoga improves breath and balance, which gives relief in neuro related problems.
He said, “Water yoga brings mental peace and reduces the chances of diseases.”
Dr. Manish Gondaliya told the features of the news agency IANS. Said, “Water yoga increases immunity, muscles get exercise and mental peace. When the whole world is doing yoga by adopting the culture of India, we should also adopt it. The nation progresses from a healthy body itself.”
Mukesh Patel, MLA, District Administration officials and people from various areas of the city attended this program organized in Surat.
Minister Mukesh Patel said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made the world Yogamay. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has resolved to ‘Healthy Gujarat, Obesity Free Gujarat’, which will run throughout the year. Suratis have made many records through yoga. I appeal to everyone to make Yoga a part of my routine.”
International Yoga Day was also celebrated with great pomp in Kutch district. The district level function took place at Smritian of Bhuj under the chairmanship of Water Resources and Water Supply Minister Kunwarjibhai Bawaliya. Many dignitaries including MP Vinod Chavda, MLA Keshubhai Patel, Collector, DDO, DIG and SP were present in this program.
Kutch Collector Anand Patel said, “Yoga programs were organized in more than 2,000 places in the district. India has set a world record through yoga. People did yoga with enthusiasm at every taluka level in Kutch.”
Yoga Day was celebrated under the theme “Yoga Sangam” at Ayurveda Education and Research Institute (ITRA) of Jamnagar. MP Poonamben Madam was specially present in the program.
He said, “Yoga should be made a part of daily life. It is beneficial not only for physical, but also mental health.”
The ITRA shown live telecast of the yoga exercise held at Visakhapatnam of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Dhanvantari Maidan. This was followed by yoga practice under the General Yoga Protocol. The students of the institute gave yoga dances and stage performances. ITRA Director Prof. Tanuja Nesari appealed to the people to do regular yoga.
Yoga expert Prof. Vaidya Arpan Bhatt said, “Yoga is a system that improves physical and mental health. This ancient tradition of India is becoming popular worldwide today.”
The 11th International Yoga Day in Vadodara was celebrated grandly by the Municipal Corporation at 36 places. Union Water Power Minister C.R. Patil took part in the main event held at the indoor stadium of the city.
Municipal Commissioner Arun Mahesh Babu said, “Yoga has been recognized globally under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Yoga programs were organized at 36 places in Vadodara, in which all participated enthusiastically.”
Dr. Meenakshi Parmar, Coordinator of Gujarat State Yoga Board, said, “We used to see happiness in yoga programs in Vadodara. We can stay healthy by making yoga a part of life.”
