Hyderabad, September 29 (IANS). Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said on Sunday that his government will strengthen the health care system for women.
The Chief Minister participated in the ‘Pink Power Run 2024’ organized by Sudha Reddy Foundation and MEIL Foundation at Gachibowli Stadium to raise awareness about breast cancer.
In his address on this occasion, CM Reddy said that the Telangana government is committed to women’s healthcare. The government will build more hospitals for women and strengthen the healthcare system.
She said, “We strongly believe that women’s health is the foundation of family and community prosperity. The steps taken by the organization will help women deal with challenges in the future. Let us all together take this program forward.”
The CM has appealed to everyone to work together to build a healthy and empowered future for the women of Telangana.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister honored Dr. Kota Ushalakshmi (91), who was victorious over breast cancer. Dr. Ushalakshmi, a former professor of gynecology, has been the inspiration behind the formation of the Ushalakshmi Breast Cancer Foundation. It is a non-profit breast cancer charity that has been running a vital breast cancer campaign in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh for the last 17 years.
Former professor Dr. Ushalakshmi was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 69. Thereafter he fought the disease with extraordinary courage and determination.
Driven by her determination to bring meaningful change towards improving breast healthcare in India, her son and renowned surgeon Dr. Raghu Ram moved to India from the United Kingdom to give wings to his mother’s dream. He has been leading many unique and pioneering initiatives under the aegis of Usha Lakshmi Breast Cancer Foundation, which have received national and international recognition.
