New Delhi, 8 July (IANS). Latakaranj, whose scientific name is Castlepinia Crysta, is considered an important medicine in Ayurveda. It is also commonly known as Fever Nut in Putikranj or English. It is a prickly shrub or vine found in the tropical and subtropical regions of India.

In Ayurveda, various parts of Latakaranj, such as leaves, roots, bark and especially its bitter seeds are used medicinal.

In the Sushruta Samhita, the root of Latakaranj is used to reduce fever, especially malaria and other types of heterogeneous fever, and stomach worms, due to which it is also called ‘fever nut’.

Latakaranj in Charaka Samhita is mentioned as Virechka Falini and Pushpika; Its use makes it easier to move bowl. At the same time, Latakaranj has been used in different ways in hemorrhoids; Its root, bark, leaves etc. are used. Grind its leaves and give it to the patient.

Young children often get worms in the stomach. Latakaranj is very beneficial in removing these insects. Drinking its oil kills insects.

It is also mentioned in the Charaka Samhita that it is very useful in skin problems such as itching, ringworm, fungal infection and other skin disorders. Grind its leaves and mix it with the root of Kaner and apply a paste.

Latakaranj is also used to prevent vomiting. Just during vomiting, licking its powder mixed with honey provides relief. At the same time, you can also make its powder and make pills and keep it; It can also be used to prevent vomiting.

Various parts of Latakaranj are also used in conditions such as eye problems and ears flowing (ear secretions).
