While talking to the media, Civil Surgeon Dr. SK Choudhary said that making Ayushman card is a big plan. It is being operated by PM Narendra Modi. We have been making cards since 2016-17.
Apart from this, he said that an order has come from the state government that Ayushman card will be made for any elderly person above 70 years of age, irrespective of caste or class. The work of making Ayushman cards has started in all the panchayats of all the blocks of the district. Per patient will get free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh in a year. Making of Ayushman card has started from 20th November. Cards will be made by 10th December.
In response to another question, he said that we have not achieved the target of how many people have to make cards. We do not have any data on how many elderly people will be above 70 years of age. This is a big campaign, definitely we will do much better in the district.
The creation of this card will benefit those elderly people whose children do not take proper care of them after they grow old. According to an estimate, the number of people above 70 years of age in the district will be around 15 lakh.
