New Delhi, Sep 9 (IANS) Union Health Secretary Apurva Chandra on Monday said the Health Management Information System (HMIS) portal should be integrated with Reproductive and Child Health (RCH) and other portals of the Health Ministry, which will help in increasing data efficiency.
He said this while releasing the ‘Health Dynamics of India (Infrastructure and Human Resources) 2022-23’. This report, which has been published since 1992, was earlier known as ‘Rural Health Statistics’.
The Health Secretary said, there is a need to integrate the HMIS portal with RCH and other portals of the Ministry. This will reduce the workload of health workers. Also, it should be ensured that the data is uploaded on time. So that it can be analyzed carefully.
The report states that as of March 31, 2023, there are a total of 1,69,615 data sub-centers in the country, in which 2,39,911 health workers are working and there are 31,882 Primary Health Centers (PATCs), in which 40,583 doctors, medical officers are working.
There are about 26,280 specialists and medical officers working in 6,359 community health centres (CHCs) and 45,027 doctors and specialists posted in 1,340 sub-divisional, district hospitals (SDHs), 714 district hospitals (DHs) and 362 medical colleges. These work in both rural and urban areas, according to the report.
Besides, there are 47,932 staff nurses in PHCs, 51,059 nursing staff in CHCs and 1,35,793 paramedical staff in SDHs and DHs across the country.
