What to eat to control uric acid
Uric acid is a kind of waste product in the body which our kidneys filter and throw out. However, sometimes due to carelessness in diet and lifestyle, uric acid increases so much in the body that the kidneys are not able to remove it completely. This increased uric acid starts accumulating in the joints. Due to which the problem of swelling and pain in joints increases.
Uric acid is formed when a substance called purine breaks down in the body. In such a situation, include those things in the diet, which reduce the amount of purine. Let us know what a uric acid patient should eat and what things should be avoided?
What to eat to reduce uric acid?
Fruits- A patient with high uric acid should include as many fruits as possible in his diet. Eat banana, kiwi, apple and berries to reduce uric acid. The anti-oxidants found in cherries help in reducing uric acid. Therefore definitely eat cherries.
Vegetables- Bottle gourd is considered a boon for uric acid patients. Eat bottle gourd vegetable once a day for a few days. Apart from this, other vegetables include mushroom, lemon, cucumber, tomato and parwal.
Cereals- A patient of uric acid should take a diet rich in fiber. Talking about grains, eat grains like barley, oats and brown rice which are high in uric acid. These fiber rich foods help in eliminating purines from the body.
Water- Drink as much water as possible to flush uric acid. Drink lemon water instead of normal water. Drink coconut water. Uric acid can be reduced by this.
Green Tea- Green tea also proves helpful in reducing uric acid. Green tea is rich in antioxidants which reduce inflammation. Uric acid can be reduced by drinking green tea.
