Washing hands thoroughly and keeping them clean is considered the first step towards hygiene. By washing hands, you keep yourself clean and can keep your body away from many dangerous diseases. By washing hands, you can protect not only yourself but also other people from getting sick and infected. This is why children are taught to wash hands and practice basic hygiene everywhere, whether at home or school. But do you know why we are asked to wash hands again and again? There are many reasons behind this. This is said because many such small germs are hidden in the hands which can go directly inside our body. Due to this the body can become home to major diseases. Especially when we come from a market, a crowded place or a party, our hands bring a lot of germs with us. This increases the risk of getting sick and infection.

According to a research, if everyone washes hands properly then the lives of 10 lakh people can be saved every year.
This disease can occur due to not washing hands
Stomach disease- Due to not washing hands properly, the risk of many stomach related diseases increases. Especially you may have intestinal problems. Diseases like diarrhoea, cholera or typhoid also occur due to negligence in cleanliness. A research found that washing hands with soap can prevent 4 out of 10 cases of diarrhea.
Cold and cough- Not washing hands can spread infections like cold and cough. If a person has touched his mouth and nose and then touches someone else or touches any object with the same hand, then your risk of getting infection also increases. Immunity can also become weak due to this.
Eye related problems- Putting dirty hands on the eyes can cause many types of diseases. Many such researches have come out in which it has been found that to avoid far-reaching eye diseases, it is important to take care of hand hygiene. Especially infections like watery eyes, red eyes and trachoma which causes blindness can spread due to not washing hands.
Skin related infections – If you have any kind of wound, injury or infection, then Staphylococcus bacteria can make it serious. These bacteria are often found in the skin and nose. Which can cause infection if they get mixed in open wounds. Therefore, it is most important to keep hands clean.

How long should you wash hands?
