These things are forbidden in Vat Savitri fast, know what to eat and what not?

New Delhi, 15 May (IANS). Vat Savitri fast is considered special for women in the eldest month dedicated to Lord Vishnu. This fast is especially celebrated to strengthen the relationship between husband and wife. Suhagin women keep this fast on the Jyeshtha Amavasya. According to religious beliefs, on this day women worship under Vatavriksha i.e. Banyan and wish the husband a long life. Many types of dilemma are revealed in the consumption of catering about this fast. There is doubt in the mind that if we eat this thing, then our fast should not be broken.

According to the View Panchang, Vat Savitri will be fasted on 26 May 2025. Amavasya date will begin at 12:11 minutes on 26 May and Amavasya Tithi will end at 8:31 am on 27th.

During the fast, women should consume fruits, nuts, khichdi, curd, and honey. Do not take any kind of grain on this day. Things like eggs, meat, fish, onion, garlic are completely prohibited, so avoid it. The purpose of the fast is to purify the body and mind, so that whatever auspicious work is done, there is a communication of positive energy. In the fast, home -made pure sweets, pudding or pua can be consumed.

From the perspective of health, it is advisable to eat plain food one day before any fast. That is because tamasic food is considered heavy and not digestible. This can cause damage to the body. Tamasic food does not provide energy to the body during the fasting period and it becomes a little difficult to follow the rules of the fast.

It is believed that on this day Savitri had ordered the life of her husband Satyavan from Yamraj, and since then this fast is celebrated every year with reverence and faith.

The method of worshiping this fast is very special. Women who keep fast wake up early in the morning and take a bath. Banyan tree has special significance in this fast. Before worshiping, clean the banyan tree ie under the tree and prepare the place of worship. Worship Savitri and Satyavan, and offer water to the Vat tree. Tie the Vat tree with red thread and revolve around 7 times. Read the fast story and perform Aarti in the end. Donate to the poor and Brahmins and seek blessings from them. Practice the fast the next day after sunrise.
