युगांडा में एमपॉक्स से मरने वालों की संख्या हुई 10 : स्वास्थ्य मंत्रालय

Kampala, January 8 (IANS). Four deaths were reported in the East African country Uganda in the last five days. After this the death toll from MPOX has increased to 10.

In a report, Uganda’s health ministry said at least 156 new infection cases were recorded in the past five days. Due to which the total number of people suffering from infection in the country increased to 1,571.

Xinhua news agency quoted the ministry as saying that 19 new infections were recorded in the past 24 hours, including 17 in the central district of Wakiso, one in the Ugandan capital Kampala and one in Lira.

The Ministry, in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO) and partners, has intensified containment measures to stop the spread of the disease, including surveillance, case management, conducting health meetings, risk communication and community engagement and public awareness campaigns. Are included.

Monkeypox is a disease caused by the monkeypox virus. It is a viral infection that can spread between people mainly through close contact. Common symptoms of MPOX include rash, fever, headache, muscle pain, back pain, low energy, and swollen glands.

Last month, the World Health Organization said the epidemiological situation of mpox remains particularly worrying in Africa, with high numbers of cases seen in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Burundi and Uganda.

As of December 15, there have been 13,769 confirmed cases in 20 countries in Africa, including 60 deaths, according to the latest WHO report. The worst-affected country is the DRC, where 9,513 confirmed cases have been found.

Although the DRC has seen a relatively stable epidemic trend in recent weeks, WHO cautioned that stability and downward trends should be interpreted cautiously given potential reporting delays.

WHO said geographic expansion of clade 1b MPoxvirus (MPXV) continues to be reported outside the DRC, adding that the virus has been detected in eight countries outside Africa.
