Lucknow, March 9 (IANS). The Government of Uttar Pradesh is providing financial assistance to pregnant and fiery women under the Pradhan Mantri Maternity Vandan Yojana (PMMVY) 2.0. On the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the scheme is being implemented rapidly, which is benefiting millions of women.
Women from the deprived class of Pradhan Mantri Maternity Vandana Yojana 2.0 are getting economic support, so that they can get proper nutrition and care during pregnancy. The Uttar Pradesh government under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is constantly trying to make this scheme more effective.
On 1 January 2025, Rs 275.16 crore was transferred to the SNA account of ICDS Department by SIFSA under the National Health Mission (NHM). Subsequently, from 22 January 2025, the process of sending the amount directly to the bank accounts through DBT started. So far, a total amount of Rs 135.31 crore has been transferred to 4,05,379 women. Under this scheme, a lump sum of Rs 5,000 is provided in two installments on first delivery and Rs 6,000 on the birth of a girl child on second delivery.
To expedite the implementation of the scheme, Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh has instructed the District Magistrates to review all the pending cases and dispose of them soon. As of 7 March 2025, 31,436 cases are pending, with 7,694 cases at supervisor level, 7,411 cases at CDPO (SO) level and 321 cases at SNO level.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the UP government is committed to make the Pradhan Mantri Maternity Vandana Yojana effective at the ground level. The government intention is that under the scheme, every eligible woman should be assisted and malnutrition should be stopped.
