Rae Bareli, 18 May (IANS). After the death of a tigress from bird flu at the zoo in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, the animal husbandry department of Rae Bareli has also come into alert mode. The Special Task Force has been formed by the department, which is keeping an eye on the whole matter. However, no case of bird flu has been reported in Rae Bareli.
District Chief Livestock Officer Anil Kumar said that a tigress died of bird flu in Gorakhpur Zoo. Since then, the district Rae Bareli is also on alert mode. He informed that regularly the lab is being sent to the lab for the serum and their beat for investigation from the chicken firms. However, the investigation has not yet confirmed the bird flu. Despite this, we are cautious. He informed that the force constituted on bird flu will keep an eye on the district level. The Rapid Response team formed at the tehsil level has also been activated. This team will be active in their respective areas and will respond immediately on livestock related problems.
On the other hand, a team has been formed by the Central Zoo Authority in the case of the death of a tigress from bird flu in Gorakhpur Zoo which will reach Joo on Sunday to investigate. This team will also take samples of animals to investigate other infections including checking bird flu. In the last few months, many wildlife have died in Gorakhpur Zoo, which remains a matter of concern.
After the death of the tigress in Gorakhpur from bird flu, other zoos across the country have also been placed on alert mode. Ju located in Delhi has also become alert about bird flu. According to a senior official associated with Delhi Zoo, guidelines have been issued here regarding bird flu so that the infection can be prevented from spreading.
