Lucknow, January 5 (IANS). Uttar Pradesh has got another achievement in its kitty. Uttar Pradesh has also topped in 2024 in identifying and treating Tuberculosis (TB) patients. The state had achieved the target of identifying 6.50 lakh patients last year. In comparison, 6.73 lakh patients were identified. This is a record. Maharashtra is at second place and Bihar is at third place. After this, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan have given notifications.
Experts believe that the only way to eradicate TB from the country is to identify and treat as many patients as possible. In view of this, the Central TB Division had set the target of TB notification for all the states by the beginning of 2024. Uttar Pradesh was given a target of finding 6.5 lakh patients.
According to departmental data, till December 31, 6 lakh 73 thousand TB patients were identified in the state. Treatment of all these has started. The role of private doctors in achieving the target of TB notification has also been commendable. More than 2.5 lakh patients have been identified in the state, that is, approximately 40 percent of the patients have been registered through private doctors.
After Uttar Pradesh, 2.25 lakh patients were registered in Maharashtra. Two lakh patients could be identified in Bihar at number three. 1.78 lakh patients were identified in Madhya Pradesh and 1.70 lakh patients in Rajasthan.
Expressing happiness over this achievement, State TB Officer Dr. Shailendra Bhatnagar said that under the guidance of the top leadership, various programs like Integrated Nikshay Day on 15th of every month, Active Case Finding (ACF) campaign and Dastak campaign were conducted throughout the year. With this, we were able to find more and more patients with TB symptoms. At present, a 100-day intensive TB campaign is going on in the entire state, through which the entire department is focused on finding high-risk and presumptive TB cases.
TB cannot be eradicated without the participation of private doctors. This is a bitter truth. Mathura, Agra, Kanpur, Gorakhpur and Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh have performed better in this matter. Private doctors are also showing activeness in Lucknow, Meerut, Moradabad, Bareilly and Ghaziabad. But, there have been only 44 private notifications in Shravasti last year.
Apart from this, there have been 255 private notifications in Mahoba, 374 in Sonbhadra, 376 in Chitrakoot, 380 in Hamirpur, 444 in Kannauj, 444 in Sultanpur, 447 in Amethi, 456 in Santarbidas Nagar, 488 in Chandauli and only 468 in Kanpur Dehat. There is a need to increase the participation of private doctors in these districts.
