Dehradun, 3 May (IANS). Many welfare schemes are being run by the central government keeping in mind the general public, including the Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Yojana (PMJAY). Residents of Dehradun are also benefiting from this scheme.

The Prime Minister Bharatiya Jan Aushadhi Kendra located at the Government Doon Medical College Hospital in Dehradun is proving to be very beneficial for patients with lower and middle income groups. This center, run by the Indian Red Cross Society, is providing high quality generic medicines at much lower prices than private pharmacies.

The director of the Jan Aushadhi Kendra said, “Every day 200-300 patients come from Jan Aushadhi Kendra to take medicine. This scheme being run by the Government of India is benefiting the people a lot. Here the drug is getting cheap and quality here. Special thanks to the state and central government for this.”

He told, “I have been running Jan Aushadhi Kendra since 2019, initially people were less aware of this scheme. But now patients are coming here in large numbers.”

A customer who came to take the medicine at the Jan Aushadhi Kendra said, “The government should open such centers in more places so that people can benefit maximum. Compared to the market, medicines are getting cheaper in the drug center. Those who are not being treated due to lack of money, they are getting benefit from this scheme.”

It is noteworthy that the Prime Minister is a campaign launched by the Bharatiya Jan Aushadhi Project Pharmaceuticals Department, which aims to provide quality medicines to the people at affordable prices. Stores have been installed to provide generic medicines, which are available at low prices, but equivalent to expensive branded drugs in quality and impact.
