New Delhi, March 14 (IANS). One study has found that the Western diet, which often contains high amounts of salt, sugar and fat, may increase the risk of cancer in the lungs.
The previous few researches have shown the relationship between cancer of the liver and organs such as the liver and pancreas due to poor diet. Thus the long -term effects of the diet have been well studied.
“Lung cancer is traditionally not considered a dietary disease.”
He said that when it comes to lung cancer, it is rarely discussed that the diet can play a role in it.
According to the study published in the magazine Nature Metabolism, the purifiers focused on glycogen accumulation. In which glucose is made of a simple sugars. It has been found to be accumulated at high levels in various types of cancer and other diseases.
Through the laboratory model and computer -guided model of glycogen reserves in the lungs, researchers showed that glycogen in lung cancer acts as an oncogenic metabolite, which is similar to “a veteran lollipop for cancer patients”.
The higher the glycogen in cancer cells, the larger and dangerous the tumor.
In short, researchers stated that, specific western diet increases glycogen levels and glycogen provides nutrition for the development of lung cancer tumors.
Sun called for more emphasis on public awareness and policy-making strategies to promote healthy diet options just like an anti-smoking campaign.
The team said, “Prioritizing nutrients, adopting active lifestyle and reducing alcohol consumption are basic strategies for long -term health.”
