Kampala, 14 February (IANS). World Health Organization Director General Tedros Adhanom Gabreesus announced an additional $ 2 million help to Uganda to fight Ebola. Due to this, the total assistance amount in three weeks has increased to $ 3 million.
Gabreesus told the social media platform ‘X’ that this amount has been given to the government of Uganda to help in stopping Ebola. “Our teams are assisting monitoring, infection control, treatment centers and research work in hospitals, hospitals,” he said, “he said.
On January 30, the World Health Organization assisted $ 1 million and also provided a test vaccine to prevent Ebola.
According to the Xinhua News Agency report, the government of Uganda had officially announced the spread of Ebola last month. This happened when a 32 -year -old nurse, who worked at Mulago National Referral Hospital in Kampala, died of Ebola.
According to the Health Ministry of Uganda, 9 cases of Ebola have been confirmed in the country till Wednesday, one of which has died. In addition, 265 people who came in contact with the first infected person are being monitored.
Ebola is a serious viral disease that spreads from the Ebola virus. Initially its symptoms are normal flu -like, but later may cause rapid vomiting, bleeding and problems related to the brain and nervous system.
This virus can spread to humans with bats, monkeys and deer. After this, it spreads rapidly through contact between humans and can take the form of an epidemic. It usually spreads only in parts of Africa.
Ebola is a rare disease, but in 1976, when it was first seen in Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of Congo), it has spread many times since. The biggest Ebola outbreak was in 2014-2016, in which 28,646 people in 10 countries were infected and 11,323 people were killed.
