New Delhi, September 6 (IANS). People are often advised to eat green and fresh vegetables to keep themselves healthy. People consume a lot of fresh vegetables to stay fit and healthy, but do you know that consuming some vegetables that contain seeds can be very harmful for many people.
Seed vegetables are rich in elements like oxalic acid and oxalate, which can cause a big problem for people suffering from kidney problems. Kidney stones are formed when the balance of certain chemicals in the urine is disturbed, which leads to the formation of crystals and takes the form of stones. The main function of the kidney is to monitor the level of liquids and chemicals in the body.
Kidney stones can be treated through medicines and proper diet. People suffering from kidney stones should not consume vegetables like brinjal, tomato, cucumber, spinach. Brinjal contains an element called oxalate which increases kidney stones. For this reason, people suffering from kidney stones are advised not to consume it.
Due to the presence of oxalate element in tomato seeds, kidney stone patients are advised not to consume it. Cucumber increases the level of potassium in the body, which serious kidney patients should avoid. Such patients are advised not to consume cucumber.
However, it should be noted that not all seed vegetables contain the same amount of oxalate. Some have less and some have more. In such a situation, a balanced diet is recommended to kidney stone patients.
Apart from this, spinach is one such vegetable which may not have seeds but due to the presence of oxalate in plenty in this green vegetable, kidney patients are advised not to eat it.
Apart from kidneys, stones also occur in the gall bladder. An operation is required for that. In some cases of kidney stones, surgery may also be required.
