New Delhi, December 13 (IANS). After the arrival of winter season, life is affected due to cold wave, fog and cold. Humans and even animals are always in search of ways to get some warmth. There is one thing, which can give you relief from many problems arising due to cold and that is ginger which has earned the title of ‘Khan of Gunas’ in Ayurveda. There is a saying that how does a monkey know the taste of ginger? Monkeys don’t know the taste of ginger, let’s find out why.
We often hear this popular idiom in our daily conversations, which means that ignorant people do not appreciate things that are full of virtues. The story behind this idiom is very simple, according to which monkeys cannot taste ginger the way humans do. For this reason, monkeys throw away ginger immediately after smelling it.
Interestingly, monkeys, which are herbivorous animals, can recognize all types of trees and plants but they do not have the ability to recognize the properties of ginger. Humans have the ability to recognize the taste of ginger, but not monkeys.
The appearance and taste of ginger, which is very beneficial for the body, is completely different from other vegetables or fruits. The aroma of ginger not only enhances the taste of tea or decoction but also makes it beneficial. Similarly, ginger enhances the taste of vegetables.
Ginger contains many nutrients and that is why ginger is considered like nectar in Ayurveda. Ginger contains calcium, iron and other minerals. Eating ginger improves digestion. If you feel vomiting then eating ginger provides relief. Eating ginger helps in reducing weight and strengthens the immune system.
Eating ginger relieves fatigue and also helps in fighting infections. According to experts, eating ginger reduces the chances of heart-related problems and provides relief from arthritis pain.
According to Ayurveda, if cough is not leaving you for several days, then ginger tea or licking ginger with salt provides relief to the throat. Girls suffering from period pain can get relief from pain by consuming ginger with hot water or tea. Ginger is also considered a panacea for cold and cough.
