The fourth generation Swift available in India has not been crash tested yet, but its safety test has been done in Europe and Australia. While Euro NCAP gave it a 3-star rating, Australia NCAP recently gave its Australian model a 1-star rating.
crash test in australia
The model tested for Australia and New Zealand did not perform as expected. It got only 47% score in adult safety and 59% score in child safety. This means that it did not even deserve a 2-star rating.
Europe-spec model
The Swift model fared slightly better in Europe. It got a score of 67% in adult safety, 65% in child safety and 62% in safety assist.
better performance of dezire
Dezire, the sedan version of Swift in India, recently achieved an excellent 5-star rating in the Global NCAP. It is expected that the India-spec Swift will also perform better.
What hope in India?
Looking at the different performance of Swift in Australia and Europe, it is clear that the safety features of the model may be different in each country. The better performance of Dezire in India shows that the Swift model here can also be safe.
Now it remains to be seen when the India-spec Swift will undergo the global NCAP crash test and what kind of rating it will get in it.
