Medical circular was issued by DGCA
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) issued a medical circular in February 2023. In this medical circular, airlines were advised to create a separate training program for flight crew/ATCOs (Air Traffic Controller-ATCOS). The purpose of this program was to identify and deal with the bad effects of mental health problems. Air traffic controllers are those who explain the way to airplanes.
In addition, in relation to mental health surveillance, organizations (Scheduled and non-preferred operators, flight training organizations and Indian aircraft port Authority) were also advised to start a assistance program for their employees.
DGCA sent notice to Air India
Air India on Wednesday confirmed a show cause notice from the Director General of Civil Aviation from the Director General of Civil Aviation for the violation of the security standards related to the fatigue of the crew and the management of training.
