A few days after the alleged suicide of a Nepal student at a university in Odisha and the college administration ordered the Nepali students to vacate the hostel, 159 students returned to Nepal via Raxaul border. An official gave this information.
Assistant Chief District Officer of Parsa Suman Kumar Karki said that 159 Nepali students returned from the Raxaul border by Thursday evening.
Nature Lamsal (20), a third year student of BTech (Computer Science) at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) in Odisha, allegedly committed suicide in his hostel room on 16 February. Students demonstrated after this incident.

A group of students who returned to Nepal while talking to the media at the ‘Reporters Club’ in Kathmandu said that the Nepali student was “inhuman behavior” in the college hostel after the death of the Nepali student.
The students said, “After the mysterious death of Prakriti Lamsal, we were misbehaved and inhumanly treated.”
He said, “In the presence of university teachers and other employees, security personnel beat us up and asked us to vacate the hostel immediately.” The students said that despite the assurances given by the university administration, they are not feeling safe in returning to college.
“Despite the assurance given by the college, there was no safe and favorable environment for studies,” he said.
He said that there should be a proper investigation into the death of Prakriti Lamsal and the victim students should get justice.
Nepal’s Foreign Minister Arju Rana Deuba had said on Thursday that the government had resolved the issue arising out of the death of Nepali student through diplomats.
Addressing the media at Tribhuvan International Airport after coming from Oman, Deuba said, “The Nepal government has resolved it through diplomatic mediums, taking the issue related to the death of a Nepali student at KIIT in Odisha.” ‘
