Indian blue-collar workers (such as construction workers, drivers, technicians etc.) remain an important part of the economy of the Gulf countries. According to the information given by the government recently, more than 16 lakh Indians are working in 14 countries of Middle East.
The Ministry of External Affairs (Ministry of External Affairs) presented data in the Rajya Sabha on 31 July, stating that the migration of Indians has increased rapidly in the last 5 years, especially in areas with construction and other wages.
Saudi arabia at the forefront
Between January 2020 and June 2025, Saudi Arabia alone employed 6.95 lakh Indian workers. After this, the number of Indian workers in other Gulf countries is UAE (United Arab Emirates) – 3.41 lakh, Kuwait – 2.01 lakh, Qatar – 1.53 lakh and Oman – 1.16 lakhs.
The most (3.98 lakh) Indian workers went abroad in 2023 after Korona epidemic. Only Saudi Arabia hired more than 2 lakh Indians in 2023. In 2024, 1.67 lakh people got jobs and this trend continues in 2025 as well. At this time UAE is making the most new recruitments.
Why did the demand of Indian workers increase?
Saudi Arabia’s VISION 2030 projects (eg Neom and The Line) require a large number of workers. For this reason, the demand of Indians has increased rapidly.

The operation director of Expertise Contracting Company Limited Ka Sheikh Karnire said his company recruits and train 4000-5000 Indians every year (for Saudi Projects). Demand has also increased rapidly in Kuwait. Companies are attracting Indian talent by giving good salary packages.
