New Delhi. In Sukma district of Chhattisgarh, 23 hardcore Naxalites have surrendered together. The surrender Naxalites belong to 11 senior cadre and it also includes three couples. A total of Rs 1.18 crore was declared a reward on all these Naxalites. Most of these Naxalites were in Battalion No.1 of People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA). It is considered the strongest Maoist military organization. Such a large number of Naxalites surrendered simultaneously are being seen as a big success to the security forces towards the Modi government’s anti -Naxal campaign.
Giving information about the surrendering Naxalites, Sukma Superintendent of Police Kiran Chavan said that Lokesh alias Podiam Bhima, Ramesh alias Kalmu Kesa, Kavasi Masa, Makam Haina, Nuppo Gangi, Punem Deve, Paraski Pandey, Madavi Joga, Nuppo Lachhu, Podiyam Sukhram and Dudhi Bhima were declared 8-8 lakhs. While a reward of Rs 5-5 lakh was placed on four other Naxalites, Rs 3 lakh on one Naxalite and Rs 1-1 lakh on seven Naxalites. The surrender by members of PLGA Battalion No.1 is somewhere a sign that the strongest military organization of Maoists is now weakening.
Naxalites have surrendered before senior officers of police and Central Reserve Police Force. According to the police, some Naxalites who surrendered were active in the committees of Maoists in Aamdai, Jagrgunda and Keralapal region. Financial assistance of 50-50 thousand rupees has been provided to all the surrenders. Not only this, all these will be rehabilitated under the government’s policy.
