New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi took charge as the Chief Minister of Gujarat 23 years ago on October 7, 2001. After being CM for almost 13 years, he has now been serving the country as Prime Minister for more than 10 years. Today, the countrymen congratulated Modi on completing 23 years of serving the country as the head of the government, on which the Prime Minister expressed his gratitude. Referring to his past experiences, PM Modi once again reiterated his resolve for a developed India.

Modi wrote in a social media post, When I took over as Chief Minister, Gujarat was facing many challenges. The 2001 Kutch earthquake, a super cyclone before that, a major drought, and the legacy of decades of Congress misgovernance like looting, communalism and casteism. With the power of people power, we rebuilt Gujarat and took it to new heights of progress even in sectors like agriculture, for which the state was not traditionally known. During my 13 years as Chief Minister, Gujarat emerged as a shining example of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’, ensuring prosperity for all sections of the society. In 2014, the people of India gave a record mandate to my party, enabling me to serve as Prime Minister. This was a historic moment, because for the first time in 30 years a party got an absolute majority.

Over the past decade, we have been able to address many of the challenges facing our country. More than 25 crore people have been freed from the clutches of poverty. India has become the fifth largest economy and this has especially helped our MSMEs, startup sectors and others. New avenues of prosperity have opened up for our hardworking farmers, women power, youth power and the poor as well as the deprived sections of the society. The PM said, India’s developmental progress has ensured that our country is viewed with utmost optimism globally. The world is eager to join us, invest in our people and be part of our success. Also, India is working extensively to overcome global challenges, be it climate change, improving healthcare, realizing SDGs or many more.
