The East Coast Railway (ECOR) said in a statement that at around 1 pm today, at around 1 pm, at least 25 coaches of the goods train derailed near the Chimidipalli railway station in the Araku-Kottalasa section under the WalTare Division. Senior railway officials immediately reached the spot to assess the situation so that the repair work could be expedited. He said that a relief train was immediately sent to start the repair work.
Some passenger railway services affected after the accident
Railways said that some passenger trains between Visakhapatnam and Kirandul have been sent via Vijayanagaram in Andhra and Raigadha in Odisha. A railway official said that there is no news of any casualty in this accident. Officials said that a relief train has been sent to the spot for repair work and senior railway officials are also present there to monitor the work there. He said that after the accident, some passenger trains between Visakhapatnam and Kirandul were dispatched via Vijayanagaram and Raigadha.
