A total of 292 Indian citizens were evacuated from Iran from a special aircraft from Mashhad from Mashhad under Operation Sindhu being run by the Government of India amidst the Iran Israeli struggle. A total of 2295 Indian citizens have been brought home from Iran so far. Also, 161 Indian citizens arrived in Delhi from Israel. Union Minister of State for External Affairs (MOS) Pabitra Margerita welcomed him at the airport.
The official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs Randhir Jaiswal said in a post on X, “292 Indian citizens were expelled from Iran from a special flight from Mashhad to New Delhi on June 24 at 0330 am.”
Jaiswal also informed the Indians brought from Israel and posted on X that the Israeli phase of Operation Sindhu started on June 23. Jaiswal emphasized that the security of Indian citizens abroad is the top priority of the government.
In a post on X, Jaiswal said, “Operation Sindhu’s Israeli phase began on June 23, 2025, in which the first group of 161 Indian citizens was brought home from Israel. They reached New Delhi safely from Amman, Jordan at 0820 am today.
At the airport, he was welcomed by Union Minister of State for External Affairs (MOS) Pabitra Margerita. The security of Indian citizens abroad remains the top priority for the government. “
Amidst the ongoing tension between Israeli and Iran, the Government of India has introduced Operation Indus to remove Indian citizens from Israel who want to leave from there. The Ministry of External Affairs said that their travel from Israel to India would be smooth by the land border and then by air route.
The conflict between Israeli and Iran began on 13 June when Israel launched a massive air attack on the Iranian military and nuclear sites, which was the code name “Operation Rising Lion”.
In retaliation, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched a large -scale drone and missile campaign called ‘Operation True Promise 3’, targeting Israeli fighter jet fuel production facilities and energy supply centers.
The tension increased further after the US carried out an accurate aerial attack on three major nuclear installations of Iran under “Operation Midnight Hammer” on Sunday morning.
According to CNN reports, Iran retaliated by firing several missiles at US military establishments in Qatar and Iraq, including Al Udid Air Base in Qatar, the largest American military base in the region.
