Imphal. In Manipur, Kuki terrorists killed 3 women of Hindu Meitei community and dumped their bodies in Jiri river. Their bodies were found from Jirimukh on the border of Assam and Manipur. Recently, Kuki terrorists had kidnapped 3 Meitei women and 3 children from Jiribam, Manipur. On receiving information, Assam Rifles personnel recovered the bodies of women from Jiri river. The appearance of these women matches the description given by their family. Kuki terrorists attacked the relief camp at Jiribam and abducted Meitei women. There was also an encounter with CRPF during that time. In which 11 Kuki militants were killed. The three kidnapped Meitei children have not been found yet.
The period of violence in Manipur started from 3 May 2023. The Manipur High Court had asked the state government to consider giving reservation to the Hindu Meitei community. This was opposed by the Kuki community. After which conflict started between Kuki and Meitei communities in Manipur. Many people have lost their lives so far in incidents of conflict between the two communities. At the same time, there was also an incident of a woman being paraded naked and allegedly raped. Kuki militants live in the hilly areas of Manipur. Recently, Kuki militants had also attacked a village and a temple of Meitei community with rockets. Many people were injured in that incident and the temple priest lost his life.
After the attack by Kuki terrorists in Jiribam, the Central Government has again imposed AFSPA i.e. Armed Forces Special Power Act in 6 areas of Manipur. Apart from this, taking immediate steps, 2000 more CRPF and BSF personnel have also been deployed. After the violence broke out in Manipur, several companies of central forces were already deployed there. Apart from this, Assam Rifles soldiers have also been deployed. According to intelligence reports, Kuki terrorists are getting support and weapons from anti-India foreign forces. Kuki militants had attacked several police stations in Manipur and also looted weapons.
