Odisha Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari said on Sunday that a total of 35.95 lakh people in Odisha have been affected due to cyclone ‘Dana’ and subsequent floods in 14 districts.
Pujari said that 8,10,896 people have been evacuated to 6,210 cyclone relief centres. He said that the most affected districts include Kendrapara, Balasore and Bhadrak.
The minister told reporters that no casualties were reported due to the cyclone. “As of 10:30 am on Sunday, the evacuees were sheltered in 1,178 cyclone relief centers and are being provided food and other essential items,” the minister said.
He said cyclone ‘Dana’, which struck on Friday morning, has affected people of 1,671 gram panchayats under 108 blocks of 14 districts. Pujari said that as per preliminary information, about 5,840 houses have been completely or partially damaged due to the cyclone and subsequent floods.
