The Government of Himachal Pradesh has increased a lump sum of 40 percent in the pension given to ex -servicemen and ‘brave women’ through the Sainik Welfare Department. Officials gave this information on Friday. Officials said that ex -servicemen and brave women will now get a monthly pension of Rs 5,000 instead of Rs 3,000.
Pension for Rs 2000 per month
He said that before 1987, the pension given to ex -servicemen and their widows who took voluntary retirement has been increased by Rs 2,000 per month. Director of Sainik Welfare Department, Brigadier Madnasheel Sharma said that a lump sum of Rs 15,000 will be released for the first quarter of the financial year i.e. April, May and June in June.
No pension is received from the Government of India
Brigadier Sharma said that this decision would benefit 246 ex -servicemen and 261 brave women of the state. He said that these ex -servicemen do not get any pension from the Government of India. Brigadier Sharma said that earlier a monthly budget of Rs 15,21,000 was allocated for the pension of ex -servicemen and brave women, which has now been increased to Rs 25,35,000.
Many schemes for family members of ex -servicemen
Several welfare schemes are being run by the Government of Himachal Pradesh and the Central Government for ex -servicemen, their dependents and brave women. Through them, a lot of benefits are given to the families of ex -servicemen.
