The Indian Coast Guard has seized a huge consignment of drugs, about five tonnes, from a fishing boat in Andaman waters. This is believed to be the largest consignment of drugs seized by the Indian Coast Guard so far. Defense officer gave this information.
However, Coast Guard officials have not yet given information about the type of drugs and their price. No information has been given regarding interrogation and arrest in the case. Officials said that information will be given only after investigation of the case.
Drugs worth Rs 6 crore seized in Bengaluru, 5 arrested
Earlier, in Karnataka’s capital Bengaluru, the police in separate operations on November 22 have seized two huge consignments of drugs worth more than Rs 6 crore and arrested five persons. Police suspect that these drugs were smuggled into Bengaluru and surrounding areas on the occasion of New Year celebrations.
In the first case, the Central Crime Branch (CCB) police arrested two foreigners in Soladevanahalli police station area. Banned drugs like MDMA crystals, cocaine and ecstasy pills were recovered from them. Police seized 1.5 kg of MDMA crystals, 202 grams of cocaine and 12 ecstasy pills. The value of these drugs is said to be around Rs 3 crore. According to Police Commissioner B Dayanand, both these foreigners had come to India five years ago on medical visa and were also involved in selling drugs in Mumbai and Delhi.
In the second case, police arrested three persons and seized 318 kg of ganja, worth Rs 3.25 crore, from them. This drug was brought to Bengaluru from Odisha and Andhra Pradesh. Govindpura police arrested these accused on a tip-off when they were carrying ganja in the car. Police have also seized the vehicle. (with language input)
