Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday mourned the death of people in a road accident on the Jejuri-Morgaon road in Pune, Maharashtra. He announced an ex-gratia amount of Rs 2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund and Rs 50,000 to the injured.
The PMO India Handle said in a post on X, “The road accident on Jejuri-Morgaon Road in Pune, Maharashtra, caused deep sadness to the death of people. Consadeics towards the people who have lost their loved ones. Mother, the injured should be healthy soon.”
According to the police, seven people died in a sedan and pickup truck collision in Pune district of Maharashtra on Wednesday.
Pune Rural Superintendent of Police (SP) Sandeep Singh Gill said on Wednesday, “Seven people died in a road accident on Jejuri Morgaon Road in Pune district. The accident occurred between a sedan and a pickup truck. More information is awaited.”
Earlier on June 15, four people lost their lives after a bridge over the Indrayani river in Pune district of Maharashtra. According to Pune District Collector Jitendra Doody, four people were killed and 51 people were injured in the accident on Sunday afternoon.
District Collector Jitendra Doody had earlier said, “A total of 51 people are injured and are admitted for treatment in various hospitals, and four persons have died. Three have been identified as Chandrakant Salve, Rohit Mane and Vihaan Mane and were a male, but they have not been identified.”
He said, “The incident took place at 3:15 pm and we came to know about it at 3:30 pm. A team of about 250 people immediately came here. The rescue operation started and so far we have saved about 38 people.”
