Dantewada SP Gaurav Rai said that the security forces had received information about about 35 Naxalites hiding in the West Bastar Division, after which when a search operation was launched this morning, the encounter started. Firing took place from both sides in which 9 Naxalites were killed. The firing is still going on intermittently. Let us tell you that earlier on August 29, the police had killed 3 Naxalites in an encounter on the Narayanpur-Kanker border. It is worth noting that Home Minister Amit Shah, expressing his commitment to uproot Naxalism, had recently said that I am confident that by 2026 we will completely eradicate Naxalism from the country.

Amit Shah had said that the campaign against Naxalism is in its final stage. If we look at the data of the last few years, there has been a decrease in Naxal attacks. Except for one district of Maharashtra, many states like Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Madhya Pradesh have become Naxal-free due to the campaign run by the Modi government from 2019 to 2024. The Home Minister had said that 15 districts of Chhattisgarh including Bijapur, Dhamtari, Bastar, Dantewada, Kanker, Kondagaon, Gariabandh, Mahasamund, Narayanpur, Rajnandgaon, Mohalla-Manpur-Ambagadh Chowki, Khairgarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai, Sukma, Kabirdham and Mungeli are affected by the Naxal problem and soon the Naxalites will be eradicated from here too.
