Erode: A lemon auction in Erode district of Tamil Nadu has been auctioned for 13 thousand rupees. This lemon was used in a ritual in a village temple in Erode. Temple officials said on Friday that a buyer bought lemon for 13 thousand rupees in a public auction held at midnight. Apart from this, the bidders also bid on a silver ring and silver coin. According to reports, a public auction was held on Wednesday midnight at the Pajamathini Karuppa Ishwarna temple of Vilakthi village under the tradition which has been going on for many years on the occasion of the annual Mahashivaratri festival. Explain that on the occasion of this auction, devotees bid for the holy objects placed on the idol of the main deity, which includes a lemon, a silver ring and a silver coin. A man named Thangraj bought lemon for Rs 13,000, while Chidambaram of Arachalur bought a silver ring for Rs 43,100.
Last year, 9 lemons were sold for Rs 2.36 lakh
During the auction, Ravikumar and Banupriya jointly bid for 35 thousand rupees for silver coins. Temple officials said that after the auction, the items were placed before the deity for special worship. Devotees believe that keeping these items brings prosperity in their family. Let us know that last year, 9 lemons offered in the temple of Lord Murugan located in Vilupapuram district of Tamil Nadu were auctioned for Rs 2.36 lakh. One of these lemons was purchased by the buyer by paying an amount of Rs 50,500.
