New Delhi. Now the Aam Aadmi Party government is under attack even on its claims of providing free electricity and subsidy to the people of Delhi. In fact, official sources have claimed that 70 percent of the people of Delhi are paying Rs 500 to Rs 2000 as electricity bill. Whereas the Aam Aadmi Party government says that we are providing people the facility of free electricity up to 200 units and 50 percent subsidy on bills up to 400 units. BJP has also targeted the Delhi government regarding this matter. BJP Delhi unit says that the Aam Aadmi Party government is misleading the people of Delhi on the electricity subsidy scheme. Whereas Aam Aadmi Party, while giving its clarification on this matter, instead put the blame on BJP.
Aam Aadmi Party says that BJP wants to stop the free electricity scheme of Delhi government by putting pressure on the officials. According to the news of India TV, only about 28 percent of the domestic electricity consumers in Delhi are those who do not pay for the consumption. In June this year, the number of consumers with zero electricity bill was 17 lakh, which decreased to 16.67 and 16.72 lakh in July and August respectively. According to sources, out of 70 percent of the bill paying consumers, 40 percent are those who pay electricity bill of more than Rs 2000 every month.
Whereas there are 14 percent people who pay electricity bill ranging from Rs 1000 to Rs 2000 per month. And 11 percent are those people whose electricity bill comes between Rs 500 to Rs 1000 per month. In this matter, BJP says that a very small section living in Delhi has benefited from the electricity subsidy scheme and the Aam Aadmi Party government is exaggerating it.
