The benefits of Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) will now be provided to senior citizens above the age of 70 years. An important decision has been taken by the Union Cabinet in this matter, under which all senior citizens who are 70 years of age or above will soon be given the benefit of this insurance.
What is Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana?
Under this scheme, people are provided free health service coverage with the help of which every family is given assistance of up to ₹ 5 lakh. Now senior citizens of 70 years or more will also get the benefit of this service, irrespective of their income. That is, any senior citizen who is not getting the benefit of this service will soon be included in this scheme. Senior citizens who are availing other government services can either continue with them or register in it.
When will the registration start?
According to media reports, it has been announced on 11 September that the registration of senior citizens for this scheme will start within a week. First it will be started at selected places and then senior citizens across India will be linked to this scheme.
