Following a short time stagnation due to the huge crowd, the saints on Wednesday started their procession towards Triveni Sangam for the second Amrit bath of Mahakumbh 2025 on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya.
On Wednesday morning, a large crowd of devotees gathered at the Sangam Ghats, after which a stampede -like situation arose, after which saints and akhadas stopped the second nectar bath. On the occasion of Mauni Amavasya, heavy security arrangements were made at Triveni Sangam, paving the way for the akhadas and saints for the Amrit bath.
DIG Vaibhav Krishna of Mahakumbh said that the crowd is under control and all the preparations for the akharas and saints have been completed.
DIG Mahakumbh Vaibhav Krishna said, “Amrit bath is about to begin. Everything will be done in a traditional way. The police and administration will assist all the akhadas in their traditional processions.”

Mahant Ravindra Puri, president of the Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad, said that due to the high crowd, the saints would go to the ghats in small numbers. He said, “Today we will bathe our gods.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday appealed to the devotees to take a holy dip on their nearest ghats in the ongoing Mahakumbh in Prayagraj and advised them not to emphasize on the Sangam Ghat due to the huge crowd.
He said that about 8 to 10 crore devotees are present in Prayagraj today and due to the movement of devotees towards Sangam Noj, there is constant pressure. He said that some devotees suffered serious injuries in an attempt to cross barricading on the Akhara road.
CM Yogi Adityanath said, “Today there are about 8-10 crore devotees present in Prayagraj. There is constant pressure due to the movement of devotees towards Sangam Nose. Meanwhile, according to the Uttar Pradesh government, 36.1 million devotees took a bath in Triveni till 10 am on Wednesday.
