After the Pahalgam attack, India's big action, ban on all import-export from Pakistan

After the death of 26 tourists in the Pahalgam terror attack last month, India has banned direct or indirect imports of all goods from Pakistan with immediate effect in the interest of national security and public policy. The Ministry of Commerce issued a notice and ordered the implementation of this ban as soon as possible.

With this decision, all the arrival of goods from Pakistan to India will be completely stopped. India’s exports to Pakistan from April last year to January this year were $ 44.76 million, while imports were only 4.2 million dollars.

According to this notice issued on May 2, a provision has been added to the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) 2023, under which all the imports coming from Pakistan have been stopped.

The notification states that direct or indirect import of all the items coming from Pakistan or from there, whether independently importable or otherwise permission is obtained, will be banned with immediate effect to further order. This ban has been imposed in the interest of national security and public policy. Any exception to this ban will require prior approval of the Government of India.

What import-export in India and Pakistan?

The list of goods from India to Pakistan mainly includes cotton, chemical, food products, medicines and spices. Apart from this, things like tea, coffee, color, onion, tomato, iron, steel, sugar, salt and auto parts have also been going from India to Pakistan through third countries. If you look at the items coming from Pakistan, then by 2019, products like cement, gypsum, fruits, copper, and salt used to come.
