On Tuesday morning, the Jan Shatabdi Express going from Kota to Nizamuddin went towards the loop line near Hodal station near Agra, when TTE sitting in the train told the control room that a passenger Niranjan Singh had a heart attack. At that time, the work of changing the tracks in the loop line was going on and there was a traffic block on that part, from 10.45 am to 12.45 in the afternoon.
Controller Upendra Yadav made the signal green to send a loop line to the train in the name of medical facility. Only the engine and three coaches of the train reached the loop line that the loco pilot further saw the red flag and put emergency brake. The train was at a speed of about 30 km per hour at that time and a sudden brakes caused a sharp shock.
Sridham Express was coming from behind and some coaches of Janshatabdi were on the main line, due to which the immediate signals were down and the trains coming back were stopped in the control room. RPF and station officials immediately arrived at Hodal. Janshatabdi was back and brought on the main track and then sent to Nizamuddin.
At that time, Deputy Station Manager Satbir Singh was on duty on Hodal. After the incident, the controller and the Deputy Station Manager of Hodal have been suspended and a departmental inquiry has been ordered against both. At the time of the accident, passenger Niranjan Singh was taken off the next station at Vallabhgarh and sent to the hospital.
Rail traffic became normal in about half an hour. Investigation is going on at the scene and departmental inquiry will proceed with the investigation. At present, no other injured were reported and the Janshatabdi train has been sent forward after security.
