Four days after the death of 270 people in an Air India aircraft in Ahmedabad, 87 dead have been identified through DNA matching so far and the bodies of 47 people have been handed over to their families. Officials gave this information on Monday.

Officials are doing DNA tests to identify the dead as many people were burnt so badly in the plane crash on June 12 that their bodies could not be identified.

Additional Civil Superintendent Dr. Rajneesh Patel told reporters, “So far, 87 DNA samples have been matched, and the bodies of 47 people have been handed over to their families. These deceased were residents of various parts of Gujarat, such as Bharuch, Anand, Junagadh, Bhavnagar, Vadodara, Kheda, Mehsana, Aravalli and Ahmedabad districts.

The Gujarat government has announced state mourning for Rupani on Monday i.e. today. He will be cremated in the evening in Rajkot.

The aircraft Boeing 787-8 (AI 171) going to London had 242 people, including passengers and crew members, 241 were killed. Only one of the people aboard the aircraft survived the accident. In the incident, 29 other people, including five students of the medical college, were also killed.

Additional Civil Superintendent Dr. Rajneesh Patel told reporters, “A total of 80 dead have been identified through DNA Milan so far. The bodies of 33 of these have been handed over to their concerned families. “Those whose bodies were handed over, belonged to Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Kheda, Botad and other places.

Government b. J. Professor of surgery at the medical college, Dr. Patel said that out of 51 people injured in the incident, 38 have been discharged, while 13 are still being treated.

B.J. According to Dr. Dhawal Gameti, President of Medical College Junior Doctors Association, about 270 bodies were brought to Ahmedabad Civil Hospital from the accident site.

State Relief Commissioner Alok Kumar Pandey told reporters that the families of all 230 passengers killed in the plane crash have been contacted.

Pandey said, “Not only three passengers have given their DNA samples so far as they live abroad. He is expected to reach tomorrow evening. Along with the body, we are also handing over the death certificate to the family so that they do not have to face any problem later.

The air -accident Bureau of Investigation (AAIB) is investigating the causes of the accident. Various central and state government agencies, including the state police, are assisting the AAIB team at the accident site in Meghaninagar.

Sources said that the first meeting of the high-level multi-disciplinary committee constituted by the Center will be held in New Delhi on Monday.

State government officials apprised Mishra about the incident of this accident, which is the most horrific aviation accident in the country in decades. Mishra reached the morgue of the hospital after knowing the condition of the injured.

Mishra told reporters, “I am very sad with the seriousness of this tragedy. Everyone is sad. It is our duty to share the suffering of the victims and express our feelings. ”

Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) Commissioner B.K. Nidhi Pani said that the recovery of ‘Black Box’ is a very important part of the investigation process.

City Police Commissioner GS Malik also visited the accident site on Sunday morning.
