Air India’s flight number AI171 flew from Ahmedabad to London at 1:138 am and crashed the aircraft at 1.40 am.
The aircraft has crashed in the residential area near Mental Hospital Campus in Meghani Nagar area of Ahmedabad. As soon as the crashed broke, the aircraft became a fireball and black smoke in the sky. Some media reports are claiming that while taking off, the back of the aircraft collided with a tree due to which the accident occurred. Casualty can be gauged by watching the video of the plane crash. Prime Minister Narendra Modi took stock of the incident to talk to Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu. Naidu himself is reaching Ahmedabad. PM Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah are also going to leave for Ahmedabad.
The Prime Minister has instructed Naidu to provide all the necessary assistance immediately and keep updating the situation regularly. According to the Ministry of Civil Aviation, all the concerned agencies have been placed on high alert and coordinated efforts are on. At the same time, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has spoken to Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Home Minister and Police Commissioner regarding the plane crash. Amit Shah has assured the Gujarat government to provide all kinds of assistance from the central government. Fire brigade teams are reaching the spot after the plane crash.
